I don't think it's one bit irrational! I think it makes all the sense in the world. In some ways I wish I felt so tied to a place, particularly if it were Norfolk 'cause then I'd get to see you more! This just makes me think about more reasons I didn't capture about why this place I'm in now is home. I don't think I could ever leave the teeming multitudes of pseudo-big city life that I get being between Baltimore and Washington.

Hehe, it's funny because my friend Keilyn came to visit last weekend and was commenting on the diverse scenery just as she went along East Ocean View Avenue. The skanky motels, the weird dive restaurants, the huge Georgian houses mixed in with old beach houses.

I think I will work on some photos of the area (as well as keep up with my OV license plates). :)

To say your neighborhood is eclectic would be a slight understatement. You should do a photo series of your neighborhood and all the places you love about OV . . you know, in your spare time since you aren't busy having a baby or anything . . . . ;)

This post was wonderful; thanks for writing it! I don't have that sense of rootedness to the place where I was born, though I do have a different attachment to it. Still, it's a window of insight into people who are connected in this way to where they come from, and I think it's my favorite of any of your posts to this project so far. [grin]

As someone who spent summers at my grandmother's house in OV, I say without a doubt you captured its essence. You are one of those people I envy! :)
